Day #6 Add What?

ADD WHAT?

Day # 6

Isaiah 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Baking for Christmas is in full swing by now. If you are going to back cookies or some other special thing for Christmas, you are probably making the plans, gathering the ingredients and setting the dates to do the work. It is fun to make the plans for Christmas baking, especially if your family gets together to do the baking.

Gathering the ingredients. We are going to talk a lot about gathering the ingredients needed the recipe. Flour, chopped pecans, sugar and what? Really? You are going to that to the recipe? You are going to add what to A Recipe for a Savior?

That is how Ahaz must have felt when the Lord spoke to him through the prophet Isaiah. The Lord had told him to ask for a sign that He would act and Ahaz refused the request. (Read Isaiah 7 for more insight into this story.) That didn’t stop the Lord from giving a sign. That is the way it is in our lives too. Even when we refuse to ask of the Lord, for whatever reason, He still has the answer. He still speaks to us through His Word or through someone or something in our lives. The challenge for us is to listen to His voice.

This ingredient that the Lord adds at this time is unbelievable. “The virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” That just seems too hard to accept. A virgin conceiving THIS child. It seems impossible. THIS ingredient seems too amazing for us to understand. What is the ingredient we are talking about? It isn’t what you think. This ingredient is found in the words “and shall call his name Immanuel.” That is the amazing ingredient – Immanuel, God with us. Here we see the amazing ingredient in A Recipe for a Savior is that God Himself will take on human form, becoming a man. Paul writes, “…who, though he (Christ) was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped…being born in the likeness of man.” (Philippians 2:6-7)

God becomes a man. That is the amazing ingredient in A Recipe for a Savior.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, You sent Your Son to become man for us. He was born of a virgin in a very special way. It truly is a miracle that You did so much for us. Thank You. Amen.

Deeper Thought: Which is more amazing to you: the Savior being born of a virgin or God becoming man for you? What is the most difficult ingredient that God has added to your life? Why is it hard for you to accept?

  1. God being born a man for me. IT humanizes our Lord and Savior.
The ingredient of self esteem And accepting help from others is an ingredient that is not one that has worked. Resistance has alway been a foe. These two ingredients over time has been rising slowly. Through that I know at some point I will completely done ✅
